Ekibastuz GRES-1 (Kazakhstan) produced 1 billion kilowatt-hour at power unit # 8

/KASE, February 26, 13/ – Ekibastuz GRES-1 (Ekibastuz), bonds of which are
officially listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), informed KASE that
launched in July 2012 power unit # 8 with the capacity 500 megawatt produced
1 billion kilowatt-hour of power. At present the power unit operates in the
normal exploitation mode. The restoration of this power unit allowed increasing
production indicators of the station, which in 2012 produced over 15 billion
kilowatt-hours of power – by 13.15% more than in 2011.
The repair of power unit # 8 was completed six months earlier than planned,
the cost exceeded KZT23 billion. The reconstruction included restoration of
boilers and turbines, installation of electricity equipment and modern automatic
control equipment, and putting into operation of Alstom Power Stavan produced
electric filter. This electric filter allowed decreasing the dust level output
up to 400 mg/nm3.
The investment program is being successfully implemented on Ekibastuz GRES-1,
which consists of several phases of modernization of five working and
restoration of three out-of-work power units, and minimizing of impact on
the environment through installation of electric filters. The schedule of
modernizing and restoration of the production capacity is developed up to
2016. The total cost of the program is over KZT280 billion.
