/IRBIS, Sep.20, 99/ - According to the REUTERS, at closing of the interbank
exchange market of Kazakhstan on September 20 tenge / dollar quotations
were 136.16/26 at the average weighted rate of 136.08 (+0.19) and closing
session quotations of 136.05/06.
By the dealers interbank quotations, tenge as against of the Friday's closing
lost 21 points on demand and 26 points on supply.
The spreads of the interbank quotations after dinner varied from 4 to 13
points at average 9 and practically did not differ from the Friday's.
Tenge overnight interbank deposits quotations - 5% p.a. on demand and
10% p.a. on supply. They do not vary essentially for one week.
Current devaluation trends (towards US dollar, at an average weighted
market rate, in % p.a.): week - 23.7; 14 days - 67.6; 28 days - 54.6. The
indicated trends surpass the yield of any not indexed financial tools offered
on the stock market. Therefore banks' money outflow from the currency
sectors is still problematic. The shortest money quotations, which did not
return to the former level after September 7-9 sharp dollar growth, also
testify about appeal of the currency market.
Results of a day: the tendency of dollar strengthening remains supported by
demand from the bank of the second tier and their customers, and also by
the National Bank interest in buying up dollars on a home market. Despite of
occurrence of the export proceeds, it is impossible to speak today about
unequivocal prevalence of supply over demand. It is possible, that it was
only local event.
According to the IRBIS' experts opinion, Tuesday's currency market
conjuncture will not change essentially. Most likely, the changes of the
dollar rate will go in step with the present trend.
