/IRBIS, Sep.17, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of interbank
currency market of Kazakhstan on September 17, 99 tenge quotations
towards US dollar have made 135.95/00 with the weighted average market's
price of 135.89 (+0.19) and the quotes at closing of session of 135.89/90.
Compared to the results of the previous day tenge lost 11 points on demand
against US dollar and 6 points on supply.
The spreads of the interbank quotations after dinner varied from 5 to 11
points at average 8 and practically did not differ from the yesterday's.
The overnight tenge deposits quotations - 8% on demand and 18% on
supply. The demand and supply prices of short money also remain at the
same level.
The banks' of the second tier demand for dollar does not weaken, and, by
results of the last days, could not be neutralized by the sale of exporters'
currency. The dealers' behavior on trades can be characterized as cautious.
They continue to work by small-sized transactions, and still afraid of the of
less expensive dollar supplies at the final stages of trade.
By results of the dealers interrogation conducted today by REUTERS, the
banks expect in the next week the further growth of the dollar without any
sharp jumps. The dealers assume, that the situation is quite rigidly
controlled by the National Bank and it determines the smoothness of trend.
As well as yesterday, at the end of the day the interbank quotations were
above exchange's (both closing, and average weighted). In the second half
of day the dollar rate increases and dollars purchased on KASE are resell
under the higher price. Such circuit provides to the banks a little bit large
yield than work with State Securities or with short money.
Such situation confirms the dealers' forecasts for the next week. It is quite
obvious, that the first next week session will open highly, and traders will
manage to operate for a rise of dollar. In opinion of the IRBIS' experts, the
business condition will not change essential.
