/IRBIS, Sep.14, 99/ - According to REUTERS, at closing of over-the-counter
foreign exchange market of Kazakhstan on September 14 tenge quotations
against US dollar made 135.54/63 tenge per dollar with the weighted
average Exchange's price of 135.52 (+0.06) and the quotes at closing of the
Exchange's session of 135.52/53.
Based on dealers' over-the-counter market quotations, tenge lost 10 points
against American currency on demand and 4 points on supply compared to
yesterday's closing.
Spreads on the over-the-counter market varied from 5 to 22 points, 10 points
on average. This is quite working level of an indicator showing the situation
on the currency market getting normal.
"Overnight" deposit quotations at 3% APR on demand and 9% APR on
supply - lowering and also close to that of stable market. In addition, the
difference between demand and supply rates of "short money" is shrinking.
Supply of exporters' dollars in large quantities at KASE trades today could
not keep the tenge from some falling. The dollar exchange rate keeps
raising, though with less intensity. Dollar yield on weekly trend has
decreased to 81% APR, but the difference between this indicator and current
yield of state securities remain high so far.
As it was mentioned in messages of the agency IRBIS, dealers expect a
stable market this week. The National Bank, which emphasized the situation
in the sector for currency circulation was under control, has the same
opinion. Behavior of objective market indicators did not conflict with such
directives.
By IRBIS analysts opinion, further strengthening of an American currency
against tenge by a few points is quite possible at KASE trades. Demand is
great, and ability of exporters to supply large volumes of dollars is not
apparent.
