/REUTERS Almaty office, Sep.13, 99/ - The European Bank of
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested $500 million for
development of the Kazakhstan economy. Taking into account the projects
of joint financing, EBRD investments since 1993 have reached $1,5 billion.
This information was reported to the journalist by Pol Berton, the deputy chef
of EBRD representative office in Kazakhstan.
"We already invested $500 millions in Kazakhstan. Total volume of the
projects, taking into account joint financing, has made $1.5 billion. We plan
hereinafter to invest in the private sector. As these investments depend on a
market demand, it is difficult to tell how big will be the future's
investments", - he said.
At same press-conference Patris Muller, the EBRD's Canada and Morocco
department's director has recommended to Kazakhstan to improve an
investment climate. In this connection he has directed attention to an
necessity of equality of all investors to the state and of the transparent,
honour taxes for the investors.
The delegation of the members of the Board of EBRD directors will stay in
Kazakhstan till September 14.
