At KASE dollar gained significantly under growing demand

/IRBIS, Sep.07, 99/ - The next trades with US dollar, Deutsche mark and
Euro were held at KASE. 23 banks participated in the trades.
The trades were opened with the US dollar at 132.90 tenge per unit of the
currency. Immediately after opening of the session dollar exchange rate
soared. Increase in price of American currency continued without any
resistance of buyers. Demand exceeded supply for sure. At the last minutes
of the session dollar exchange rate reached its maximum for today's trades.
The session was closed at 133.55/59.
101 deals were made with US dollars. The weighted average dollar
exchange rate has made 133.44 (+0.81). Trade volume of the session -
$6.815 mln (-$95 mln). Exchange rate fluctuation during the trade
was 0.52%.
One hour after closing of the trades at over-the-counter market of
Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 133.52/72 tenge per unit of the currency.
Two hours later - 133.67/75.
Prevailing demand for dollars was apparent today. Volume of dollars
purchased by most of the dealers significantly exceeded their supply. Also,
mandatory sale of 50% of exporters' earnings did not have any practical
influence on trade turnover. By the results of the session professional
participants' expectations about the devaluation still grows.
6 deals were made with Deutsche marks. The weighted average rate has
made 72.00 tenge for 1 mark (+0.05). Trade volume - DEM205 thousand
(+150 thousand). At closing of the session Deutsche mark was offered at
72.10 tenge per unit of the currency.
One deal was made with Euro at 140.80 tenge per unit of the currency.
Trade volume - EUR10 thousand (+20 thousand). Compared to last
successful trades Euro exchange rate grew by 147.5 points (1.47 tenge). At
closing of the session Euro was quoted at 140.50/142.25 tenge per unit of
the currency.
