Kazakhtelecom (Kazakhstan) announces completion of joint building of campus network by CTC Astanatelecom and S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University

Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University" completed the construction of a campus network. CTC "Astanatelecom" provided an up to 50-Mb/s broad-band Internet access, as well as connected 500 iD TV and iD Phone service points in four student dorms and two educational buildings of KazATU. The technology implemented is marked by versatility and capability of simultaneously transmitting all information types used in the learning process: voice, data, multimedia and telemetric information. As general director of CTC "Astanatelecom" Ermek Kuanyshbekov points out, the company permanently extends its range of services and introduces new technologies. "I am sure that the introduction of innovative technologies in the education will open up new horizons and increase the quality of education in the country",- he said. The network allows lecturers to use multimedia-based lessons, computer-based presentations, teaching environments and other educating software. The education process incorporates an active use of Internet, as well as the university's corporate network. The system of preparation of specialists in all forms of education, as well as in the process of upgrading employee qualification provides for introduction of new technologies and principles of study process organization, including modern information and communication technologies. In the opinion of the university's administration, this project will allow a substantial increase in the qualification of future professionals at the account of experience gained from the use of state-of-the-art technologies, as well as increasing the information accessibility and possibility of exchanging knowledge. For the first time in Kazakhstan, the similar project was implemented by CTC "Astanatelecom" at facilities of L. Gumilev Eurasian National University in 2010. All buildings of the university were connected by fiber-optic communication lines.
