KASE: no principal changes at trades with the dollar

/IRBIS, Aug.24, 99/ - The next trades with the US dollar, Deutsche mark were held at KASE. 22 banks participated in the trades. The trades were opened with the US dollar at 131.66 tenge per unit of the currency. Immediately after opening the dollar plummeted under a pressure of active sale by the banks of the second tier. At the 4th minute dollar went down to the lowest mark on today's trades - 131.51 per unit of the currency. Reaching of this level by the dollar made the buyers more active, and further trades were held with constant dollar exchange rate growth. The trades were closed at 131.63 (demand) / 131.64 (supply). 242 deals were made on US dollars. The weighted average dollar exchange rate has made 131.57 tenge per unit of the currency, and compared to the results of the previous session went down by 0.03 tenge (3 points). The trade volume of the session - $14.460 mln - has increased relative to that of the latest trades by $4.535 mln. The exchange rate fluctuation during the trade was 0.11%. The market conjuncture today was characterized by interchangeable demand and supply. It is worth to note that demand from the banks of the second tier (more speculative) keeps growing, and because of this in the second part of the trades the traders were able to boost the dollar price from 131.51 up to 131.64 tenge per unit of the currency. It is possible that most of the dollar sales today were due to mandatory sale of exporters' currency earnings. One hour after closing of the trades at over-the-counter market of Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 131.62 (demand) / 131.70 (supply) tenge per unit of the currency. Quotations did not change after two hours. 5 deals were made on Deutsche marks. The weighted average rate has made 70.36 tenge for 1 mark. Compared to the results of the previous trades it went down by 1.60 tenge (160 points). Trade volume - DEM75 thousand. At closing of the session Deutsche mark was quoted at 70.25 (demand) / 70.35 (supply) tenge per unit of the currency. 4 deals were made on Euro. The weighted average rate has made 138.24 tenge for 1 Euro. Compared to last trades it has decreased by 1.75 tenge (175 points). The trade volume - EUR50 thousand. At closing of the trades Euro was quoted at 137.70 (demand) / 138.10 (supply) tenge per unit of the currency.
