/REUTERS Almaty office, Aug.23, 99/ - The first vice-president of the
Azerbaijan State Oil Company (ASOC) has informed that the American oil
company TEXACO has addressed to the ASOC with request for transit of oil
from the northern part of the Kazakhstan Buzochy deposit via Azerbaijan to
the Black Sea.
"We are interested in increase of the transit of oil throw Azerbaijan and we
shall welcome the similar supplies, TEXACO's in particular", - Ilgam Aliev
has told to the journalists.
The detailed ASOC - TEXACO negotiations concerning transit of "some"
millions of tons per year (the volumes will be stated later) have not begun yet.
It is supposed that the oil will be delivered by tankers through the Caspian
Sea to the Azerbaijan's Dubendi terminal, than - to Ali-Bairamly, and than by
rail to Batumi.
Oil from the Tengiz (CHEVRON Co.), South Buzachy, and also from
Turkmenistan deposits is transported by this way since 1997.
The experts consider that the variant of TEXACO's oil export using the Baku-
Supsa pipeline is unreal because of this pipeline is complete loaded by oil
from the Chirag Caspian deposit owned by the Azerbaijan International
Operational Company.
