At KASE banks of the second tier keep selling dollars

/IRBIS, Aug.20, 99/ - The next trades with the US dollar, Deutsche mark
were held at KASE. 23 banks participated in the trades.
The trades were opened with the US dollar at 131.85 tenge per unit of the
currency. The second deal immediately hoisted the exchange rate up to
131.89. None of the dealers could break through this level today, though
after a short fall of dollar exchange rate, at the 8th minute the price of
American currency was back at 131.89.
Today the market was characterized by large volumes of dollar sales by the
banks of the second tier. Supply obviously exceeded demand, and as a
result at the 15th minute of the trades dollar went down to 131.83 per unit of
the currency, and most of the remaining part of the session went within a
narrow interval 131.83 - 131.84.
By the end of the session dollar fell even lower - 131.81. Only at the very end
of the session sellers could act bullish and boost the price; the trades were
closed at 131.83 (demand) / 131.84 (supply).
256 deals were made on US dollars. The weighted average dollar exchange
rate has made 131.83 tenge per unit of the currency, and compared to the
results of the previous session went down by 0.08 tenge (8 points).
The trade volume of the session - $14.865 mln - has increased relative to
that of the latest trades by $8.710 thousand. The exchange rate fluctuation
during the trade was 0.06%.
In general, the trades were similar to that of the previous day: the same
banks of the second tier were selling dollars.
One hour after closing of the trades at over-the-counter market of
Kazakhstan dollar was quoted at 131.80 (demand) / 131.90 (supply) tenge
per unit of the currency.
One deal was made on Deutsche marks at 71.50 tenge for 1 mark.
Compared to the results of the previous trades went up by 0.25 tenge (25
points). Trade volume - DEM20 thousand. At closing of the session
Deutsche mark was quoted at 71.50 (demand) / 71.80 (supply) tenge per
unit of the currency.
Two deals were made on Euro. The weighted average rate has made
139.83 tenge for 1 Euro. Compared to last trades it has decreased by 0.58
tenge (58 points). The trade volume - EUR30 thousand. At closing of the
trades Euro was quoted at 140.00 (demand) / 140.05 (supply) tenge per unit
of the currency.
