Bolat Nurzhanov Ekibastuz GRES-1 (Kazakhstan) increases existing capacity by 500 MWt

/KASE, July 3, 12/ - LLP "Bolat Nurzhanov Ekibastuz GRES-1" (Ekibastuz), whose bonds are officially listed at Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), has provided KASE with the following press-release of July 3, 2012: quote On July 3, 2012 power unit # 8 of 500 MWt was commissioned. The ceremony of the power unit's launch took place during the pan-national TV-bridge "Let's build a strong Kazakhstan together" attended by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbaev and devoted to the launch of projects being implemented under the Program of Accelerated Industrial and Innovative Development. Upon approval of the head of the state, general director of the enterprise Ryskhan Suambaev put the power unit into operation. The program of reconstruction of the power unit included rehabilitation of the boiler and turbine equipment, installation of electric equipment and modern systems of automatic control, as well as the launch of the electric filter manufactured by CJSC "Alstom Power Stavan", the world's leading supplier of gas purification equipment. The project costs make up over KZT23 bn. Reconstruction jobs started in 2009. The project required participation of 10 subcontractors, which allowed creation of over 500 temporary work places each year. Upon the launch of the power unit another 25 work places were created at the station.
