Week volume of deals on USD at KASE - $59.440 mln (statistics)

/IRBIS, 06.08.99/ - During the 32nd calendar week of 1999 (August 02 - August 08) 891 deals totaling $59.440 mln. were made on US dollar at KASE with the average volume of the trade session $11.888 mln. This week tenge revaluation, calculated at the weighted average market rate, is estimated by the trend of 9.2% APR. In previous week 880 deals were made for an amount of $51.360 mln. with the average trade volume of the trade session $10.272 mln. During this period tenge revaluation rate has made 19.9% APR. Comparison of these numbers indicates the significant slowdown of dollar devaluation rate towards tenge, and also the growth of the average trade session volume. It is possible that the latter is caused by the increase in sales of US dollar not only by the exporters(in the framework of mandatory sale), but also by the banks; dollar is steadily becoming cheap. The revaluation rate of tenge relative to US dollar, calculated at the weighted average market rate for August 06 and in the long run(from the beginning of the year), is 95.2 APR; in the short run (last 30 days) - negative 9.2% APR (tenge revalued). On Deutsche mark 15 deals were made totaling DEM 160 thousand. The exchange rate of a mark has increased by 0.08% within a week which is equal to weekly average depreciation rate of the national currency of Kazakhstan at 4.1% APR. On Euro 3 deals for an amount of 45 thousand Euros were made. The exchange rate of an European currency has increased by 0.14% which is equal to weekly average depreciation rate of the national currency of Kazakhstan at 7.1% APR.
