On demographic situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan for January-September 2011

/IRBIS, November 16, 2011/ - The population as of October 1,
2011 by the current data was 16,615.1 thousand people, including
urban - 9,073.8 thousand (54.6%), rural - 7,541.3 thousand
(45.4%), reported today the Republic of Kazakhstan Agency on
Statistics.
Compared with the beginning of the year, the population of the
whole country has increased by 173.1 thousand, or 1.1%.
Natural population growth in January-September this year
amounted to 170.6 thousand people (in January-September 2010
- 164.8 people). The overall rate of natural increase of population
per 1,000 people was 13.7 (13.5).
During January-September this year, Civil Registry Offices
recorded 280.4 thousand (274.5 thousand) of births, 2.2% more
than in January-September 2010. During this period, 144.5
thousand boys and 135.9 thousand girls were born or 106 boys to
100 girls. In comparison with January-September 2010 the 2.2%
more boys were born, girls - 2.1%. The total fertility rate has
remained at the same period last year and was 22.6 births per
1,000 people.
The number of deaths in the country for the first 9 months of this
year amounted to 109.8 thousand (109.7 thousand) people,
including 60.5 thousand men and 49.3 thousand women, or 1,227
men to 1,000 women. In comparison with January-September
2010 amount of deaths of men decreased by 0.6%, and women -
increased by 0.8%.
Among the main causes of death of the population on the first
place are cardiovascular diseases - 37.6% (45.3%). The number
of deaths from accidents, poisonings, and injuries totaled 12.8
thousand (13.3 thousand), of them from the killing - 1.2 thousand
(1.1 thousand), suicide - 2.7 thousand (2.8 th) and traffic
accidents - 2.4 thousand (2.4 thousand) people. The overall rate
of deaths per 1000 people was 8.9 (9.1).
4,197 (4,655) children who died at the age less than 1 year were
registered, of which 2,395 (2,705) boys and 1,802 (1,950) for
girls. The infant mortality rate was 15.0 (17.3) deaths per 1,000
live births. The main cause of infant mortality are conditions
originating in the perinatal period, of which in January-September
this year, died 2,458 (2,801) infants, or 58.6% (60.2%) of the total
number of deaths among infants.
The number of marriages in January-September of this year
increased by 8.8% and was 115,832 (in January-September 2010
- 106,457), the overall marriage rate per 1,000 inhabitants was
9.3 (9.1). The number of divorces also increased by 6.5% and
amounted to 33,319 (31,284), the overall divorce rate per 1,000
inhabitants was 2.7 (2.6).
In January-September of this year there was positive net
migration, amounting to 2,480 (9,322) people. In comparison with
January-September 2010, the number who arrived in Kazakhstan
decreased by 7.0%, while the number of departures from
Kazakhstan increased by 24.5%. The main migration exchange of
the country came with the CIS states. Number of migrants who
moved within the country decreased by 3.4%. For inter-regional
movements surplus of population migration was observed in 4
regions of the country, among them the biggest in size in Astana
(22.7 thousand) and Almaty (16.6 thousand).
