Indices of stock markets in developing countries, on Thursday
closed the day with opposite changes in the background of
controversial publication of statistics in the United States.
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, retail sales in
the country in July 2011 rose compared with June by 0.5% to $
390.4 billion. The data on the level of consumer confidence
was quite weak. According to preliminary estimate consumer
sentiment index from Reuters / University of Michigan in
August 2011 fell to 54.9 points from 63.7 in July to its lowest
level since 1980. Analysts predicted that the index value was
62 points. The index of current economic conditions fell to 69.3
points from 75.8 points and the index of economic
expectations - to 45.7 points from 56 points in July.
