Indices of stock markets of developing countries on Thursday
showed opposite changes. Pressure was put by concerns
about the lack of consensus in Congress and the White House
on the question of debt limit of the United States. At the same
time favorable macro-economic news from U.S. provided
support. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the
number of initial claims for unemployment benefits in the U.S.
for the week ended July 23 fell by 24 thousand to 398
thousand. Analysts had expected a decline rate of 3 thousand
National Association of Realtors also reported that the index of
transactions on secondary U.S. housing market in June 2011
increased by 2.4%. Although this increase was more modest
than the increase in May (8.2%), but exceeded analysts'
expectations (-2%).
