Standard & Poor's has approved the corporate management gamma rating of "Air Astana" jCS on the level of Gamma-6 and withdrawn it due to cancellation of rating via gamma methodology

/IRBIS, July 28, 2011/ - Rating service of Corporate Governance
confirmed the rating of "Analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness
of corporate governance, accountability and management" (GAMMA)
of the national airline of the Republic of Kazakhstan JSC "Air Astana"
on the level of GAMMA - 6, reported July 27 Standard & Poor's.
Grading assessment rating GAMMA is 1 to 10, with 1 - minimum, 10
- maximum rating value.
After completion of the annual review of GAMMA score of JSC "Air
Astana" was withdrawn at the initiative of Standard & Poor's in
connection with the decision of Standard & Poor's to stop providing
services to evaluate corporate governance on the methodology of
GAMMA. However, Standard & Poor's will continue to evaluate
corporate governance in credit analysis.
"Despite the fact that "Air Astana" is not a public company, she has
carefully constructed corporate governance structure, which governs
the relationship between the two shareholders-founders" - said
analyst of Governance Services of Standard & Poor's Oleg Shvyrkov,
whose words were messaged.
"However, we believe that as business of "Air Astana" grows and its
emergence as the existing, mature company, other corporate
governance model based on the leading role of the Board of
Directors, which has a considerable degree of independence can
best meet the objectives of long-term development of the Company"-
concluded Shvyrkov.
GAMMA score of "Air Astana" - the result of four component analysis
of scores from grades 1 to 10:
- Shareholder influence - 6 +
- Shareholder Rights - 5
- Transparency, Audit and Risk Management - 6
- Board effectiveness, strategic process and incentives - 6
