In first six months of 2011 foreign currencies trades volume on KASE increased by 27.1 % and made up KZT7.9 trn ($54.0 bn)

/KASE, July 4, 11/ - In the first six months of 2011 foreign currencies trades volume at Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), including currency swap transactions, made up KZT7,879.9 bn (USD53,978.2 m) increasing by 27.1 % against the same period of 2010 (28.1 % in USD). In comparison with the previous six months period (July-December 2010) trades volume decreased by 17.5 % (16.6 % in USD). The rate of strengthening of the tenge to the USD at the weighted average market rate is estimated at 2.28 % APR in the current year. In the first six months of 2011 the re-valuation rate of tenge to dollar in nominal terms made up 1.13 %. In 2010 tenge re-valued to dollar by 0.65 %.
