Indices of stock markets of developing countries on Thursday
showed opposite changes, with the prevalence of positive
momentum. Investors, despite the negative reports of smaller-
than-expected U.S. GDP growth in the first quarter of 2011,
embraced it quite favorably. Recall, according to revised data
from the Ministry of Commerce, GDP growth in the first quarter
of 2011 amounted to 1.8% in annual terms. Analysts had
expected the revision rate upwards to 2.2%. However,
investors have embraced the message as a signal that the Fed
would wait to increase the interest rate on the background of a
strong economic growth.
In the Brazilian market acted as an additional factor of
supporting a message that the unemployment rate in Brazil fell
to 6.4% in April 2011, from 6.5% in the previous month.
