/IRBIS, May 23, 2011/ - Kulibayev can join the Board of Directors of
Russian Gazprom, Vedomosti reported today, referring to unnamed
sources.
As pointed out by July 1 on behalf of President Dmitry Medvedev

Nabiullina, and by October 1 - Chairman, Vice-Prime Minister Viktor
Zubkov. Meeting of shareholders of "Gazprom" will be held on June 30
(first annual, then the extraordinary - for re-election of the board).
"Replace for Zubkov has not yet been found, say sources in the
government and Gazprom, but as replacement of Nabiullina and
Shmatko are discussed the independent directors, the foreigners, said
a source close to Gazprom. One of them - 67-year-old Schroeder:
candidacy just perfect discusses the interlocutor of "Sheets": the
former chancellor has long worked on the project of Nord Stream and
well versed in international affairs of "Gazprom", - the publication said.
As indicated, however, there is no final decision, underscores one of
the interlocutors of "Vedomosti". There still is no agreement with the
Kremlin, said last week, government official to the "Vedomosti". It's
pointed out that Schroeder's office on Friday didn't answer the calls.
"Another discussed candidate is 44-year-old Kulibayev, chairman of
Kazakhstan's sovereign fund "Samruk Kazyna" and son-in-law of
President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, said a source close to
Gazprom. Kulibayev is one of the wealthiest businessmen in
Kazakhstan (Forbes estimated his fortune at $1.3 billion), has held
senior positions in the oil and gas companies Kazakhoil, KazTransOil
and Kazmunaigaz "- "Vedomosti" indicates.
As stated, evidence of the candidacy of Kulibayev was not found by
the "Vedomosti". The businessman refused to comment (through a
representative of "SK"), as did representatives of Gazprom and the
government.
