Indices of stock markets of developing countries on Monday
showed mainly a reduction of the background of growing
concern about solutions of budgetary problems of peripheral
countries of Europe, as well as weak macroeconomic data.
Thus, the index of manufacturing activity in New York on May
2011 fell to 11.9 points versus 21.7 in April. Specified value
was the lowest since December 2010. The level of business
confidence in the market of new housing construction in May
2011, calculated by the National Association stewards of the
U.S., remained unchanged at 16 points.
Yesterday in Brussels, two-day meeting of EU finance
ministers started working, on discussion of the matters of
allocating financial assistance to Portugal and Greece. The
situation is complicated by the fact that the negotiations didn't
involve the head of the IMF Dominique Strauss -Kahn, who
was arrested last weekend in New York. EU finance ministers
approved the allocation of assistance to Portugal in amount of
78 billion euros ($ 111 billion), while from Athens better
conditions for the allocation of additional assistance were
demanded.
