Stock indices in emerging markets were closed on Thursday predominantly
small decline. Pressure had a weak macroeconomic statistics from the U.S.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of initial claims for
unemployment benefits for the week ending January 8, increased by 35.0
thousand to 445.0 thousand Analysts had expected a decline of 2.0 thousand
to 407.0 thousand C On the other hand a certain level of support was rendered
by reports of successful placement of Spanish and Italian government bonds.
Spain, on Thursday raised 3 billion euros from the sale of five-year notes to
yield 4.542% to 3.576% during the last such auction held in November.
Demand for the Spanish government securities exceeded supply by 2.1 times.
The Government of Italy has attracted 6 billion euros, 3 billion euros by selling
bonds with maturities in 2015 and 2026, respectively. Rate on the first note was
3.67% per annum on the second - 5.06%.

MSCI EM - a composite index of stock market capitalization of emerging markets
areas. Since May 2005. includes the index values 26 developing countries:
