Stock indices in emerging markets have closed higher on Thursday. MSCI
Emerging Markets Index rose to a seven-week high. Investors believe that
emerging markets are most attractive for investment in the coming year.
Support was also provided positive macroeconomic news from the U.S.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of initial claims for
unemployment benefits in the U.S. for the week that ended Dec. 25 fell by 34
thousand to 388 thousand Analysts predicted that the value of the index will be
415 thousand for the revised data, the number of initial claims for the week ,
which ended Dec. 18 amounted to 422 thousand against the previously
reported 420 thousand according to the National Association of Realtors, the
number of signed contracts for the sale of housing in the United States in
November 2010 increased by 3.5% to its highest level in seven months.
Business activity index, calculated Managers Association of Chicago (PMI), in
December 2010 rose to 68.6 points from 62.5 points. Analysts expect the value
of the index will be 61.0 point.

areas. Since May 2005. includes the index values 26 developing countries:
