Support was provided by the revision of U.S. GDP growth upwards. By the final assessment of the Ministry of Commerce, GDP growth in the third quarter of 2010 amounted to 2.6% in annual terms. Earlier, according to preliminary estimates, reported growth of 2.5%. The revision was due to the increase in the positive dynamics of consumer spending and the growth of foreign investments in the country, as well as growth in exports, private investment in stocks and government spending. Real consumer spending in the third quarter increased by 2.4%. Exports of goods and services grew by 6.8%. Real imports of goods and services grew by 16.8%. The growth of inventories amounted to $ 121.4 billion. Furthermore, good support was provided by increases in oil prices.
