Stock indices of emerging markets on Thursday mostly closed higher amid
growth in Asian markets. Support was news from Japan and Australia.
According to the Government of Japan, the country's GDP in the third quarter
of 2010 increased by 1.1% instead of the expected increase of 1%. In annual
terms, GDP grew by 4.5%, analysts were expecting growth to 3.9%. The
employment rate in Australia in November 2010 increased by 54.6 thousand,
while analysts expected growth of only 20 thousand unemployment rate fell
from 5.4% to 5.2% in November. Considerable support was provided by the
rise in prices for metals and oil. In addition, investors pleased report U.S.
Department of Labor that the number of initial applications for unemployment
benefits last week, which ended on December 4, 2010, compared to the same
