Stock indices of emerging markets on Friday, mostly closed higher against the
backdrop of rising oil prices and other commodities. Support was provided by
U.S. Department of Commerce reports that the volume of industrial orders in
October 2010 decreased by 0.9%, and expected more from a significant
decrease by 1.1%. The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) reported that
the index of business activity in the services the U.S. in November 2010
increased compared with October at 0.7 points and made 55 points. Analysts
had expected that the value will be 54.8 points. Retail sales in the Euro zone in
October 2010 in relation to September increased by 0.5%. Analysts had
expected growth of 0.2%. The pressure has a weak labor market statistics from
the U.S.: according to the U.S. Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in
November 2010 compared to October rose to 9.8%. Analysts had expected the
values at the level of 9.6%. Moreover, the number of jobs outside agriculture
rose in November at 39 th. In October, the number of jobs outside of agriculture
increased by 172.0 thousand.
In the Brazilian market, further pressure was exerted by the news that the
country's central bank raised reserve requirements to prevent the credit bubble.
Required reserves on time deposits increased 20% to 15%, the additional
requirements for cash-deposits raised to 12% to 8%.
Bovespa (IBOV Index) - index of approximately 50 stocks that are traded on the
stock. commodity and futures exchanges in Sao Paulo. The index is calculated on
the basis of changes in the theoretical portfolio of shares. Constituting 80% of
the total trade over the past 12 months and at least 80% of the volume of trades
of the day.
BSE Sensex - the index based on a weighted average of the 30 most liquid
stocks listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
MERVAL Index - main index of the Buenos Aires stock market. calculated as the
weighted average market value of a stock portfolio. selected according to their
market share. number of transactions and value.
PFTS Index - the index is calculated daily on the results of bidding Ukrainian
PFTS stock exchange on the basis of weighted average price of transactions. The
"index basket includes the most liquid stocks. which performed the greatest
number of transactions.
MICEX Ind - main index of the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange. including
the 30 most liquid stocks of Russian issuers.
RTSI - Russia's stock market index Stock Exchange RTS. Calculated on the basis
of 50 securities of most capitalized Russian companies.
MSCI EM - a composite index of stock market capitalization of emerging markets
areas. Since May 2005. includes the index values 26 developing countries:
Argentina. Brazil. Chile. China. Colombia. Czech Republic. Hungary. Egypt. India.
Indonesia. Israel. Jordan. Korea. Malaysia. Mexico. Morocco. Pakistan. Peru.
