Volume of construction of new homes in the U.S. in October 2010 fell by 11.7%

/IRBIS, November 18, 2010/ - The volume of construction of new homes in
the U.S. in October 2010 fell by 11.7%. Such data are published in the
November 17 report, U.S. Department of Commerce (US Department of
Commerce).
The figure for October 2010 decreased by 1.9%, as compared to the same
month in 2009.
According to revised data, in September 2010 the construction of new homes
in the U.S. amounted to 588,000 units, not 610,000 as previously reported.
Number of permits issued for construction of new homes in October of this
year compared with a revised index for September rose by 0.5% - to 550
thousand units.
Compared with October 2009, the number of permits for new home
construction for October 2010 decreased by 4%.
