President of Kazakhstan and Prime Minister of Belgium have discussed the further development of cooperation between the two countries and its strengthening

/IRBIS, October 26, 2010/ - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev
took part in the official welcoming ceremony with Prime Minister of Belgium
Mr. Yves Leterme, informed on Oct. 25 presidential press service of
Kazakhstan.
As indicated, during the opening ceremony of the memorial to the victims of
nuclear testing, environmental and technological disasters. The monument is
a gift from Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Belgium.
After the ceremony, President Nazarbayev and Mr. I. Leterme held a bilateral
meeting. The sides discussed issues of further development and
strengthening cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting,
agreements were signed on cooperation between the Accounts Committee
for Control over Execution of the Republican Budget of the Republic of
Kazakhstan and the Court of Audit of Belgium, the Memorandum of
Understanding between the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of
Kazakhstan and the Administration of Customs and Excise of the Federal
Financial Officer of Belgium on the exchange of statistical data on
international trade and Memorandum of Understanding between the National
Nuclear Centre of Kazakhstan national atomic company Kazatomprom and
the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN).
"Kazakhstan is considering Belgium, as an important political and economic
partner in the European Union. To further develop and strengthen bilateral
economic and trade ties reached an agreement on the establishment of
Kazakh-Belgian Business Council. We also discussed the possibility of more
active participation of the Belgian business projects for accelerated industrial
innovative development of Kazakhstan's economy. Of particular importance
is the development of cooperation between the capitals of Kazakhstan and
Belgium. During the visit, between Astana and Brussels established
partnerships. I believe that our agreement will give new impetus to
cooperation in such important sectors as energy, transportation, engineering,
health and education, as well as high technology ", - said Mr. Nursultan

"At the invitation of President Nursultan Nazarbayev has been decided to
establish a Kazakh-Belgian Business Council. In addition, Belgium supports
the plans to establish a new agreement on advanced partnership between
the EU and Kazakhstan. We also appreciate the role of Kazakhstan as the
OSCE chairman. We believe that the OSCE Summit in Astana would
strengthen the Organization's activities to fill all three "baskets." We hope to
continue deepening relations between Kazakhstan and Belgium, especially in
trade and economic cooperation ", - said, in turn, Mr. I. Leterme.
