Net income for the first half of 2010 JSC NAK Kazatomprom has increased by 64% and amounted to KZT19,414 million

/IRBIS, August 9, 2010 / - JSC NAK Kazatomprom has announced its
operating results for the first half of this year, indicated in the statement
issued today the company's announcement. As indicated, the production plans of
enterprises of the holding in the first half of 2010 fully implemented.
The volume of uranium mining in Kazakhstan for 6 months in 2010 amounted
to 8,452 tons, up 42% over the same period last year. According to the
corrected plans, mining of uranium in the second half of 2010 amount to 9,770
tons. LLP MAEC-Kazatomprom to produce energy and water for consumers,
Aktau and Mangistau region for 6 months produced 2143 million kW/h of
electricity, 1,538 thousand Gcal of thermal power and 538 million cubic meters
of water.
Total revenues JSC NAK Kazatomprom in the first half of 2010 amounted to
KZT105,687 million, which is 58% higher than the same period in 2009. Such
an increase (almost 2-fold) of income due to sales of uranium products.
Net income for the first 6 months of this year amounted to KZT19,414 million,
which is 64% higher than the same period last year.
Act of the State Acceptance Commission in the first half of 2010 were
introduced into service the following facilities:
- industrial complex and GEOTECHNOLOGICAL field JV Inca (joint Kazakh-
Canadian company) on the project Mine Inkai MF-1 on the field Inca.
- The first part of the expanded development and industrial production of
uranium by the method of underground leaching of subsurface (PSV) in the
field "Budenovsky" section 2, the ongoing LLP Tau.
- residential complex shift camp for 245 people LLP Renard-U, located in a
rural district Baykenzhe, Zhanakorgan district Qyzylorda region.
"The strategic goal for the holding company is to implement projects in the
construction of the nuclear fuel cycle. In the first half of 2010 between SC
Rosatom and JSC NAK Kazatomprom reached an agreement on the further
development of the project company "central administration" ("Uranium
Enrichment Center") on the alternative option, which involves the participation
of the Kazakh side in the capital of the Ural Electrochemical Plant (UEIP,
g.Novouralsk)", - it's stated in the message.
As noted in the first half of 2010 JSC "UMP" (subsidiary of Kazatomprom) and
the Japanese company Nuclear Fuel Industries Ltd. (NFI) carried out a
certification of uranium dioxide powder produced by UMP for Japanese nuclear
power plant, which Ulba Factory will switch to supply nuclear fuel components
for the Japanese market.
In the first half of 2010 the joint venture "SARECO", which is the practical
implementation of the project "Establishment of the production of rare earth and
rare-metal production in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
JSC NAK Kazatomprom and the Japanese Toshiba Corporation have signed
an agreement establishing a joint venture for research and development,
production, manufacture and marketing of rare metals and rare-earth products
and materials. Creating a joint venture with ToshibaCorp. was planned for the
second half of 2010.
JSC NAK Kazatomprom is a member of a large-scale development program in
Kazakhstan alternative energy. In June 2010 in the Green Belt capital (Akmola)
commissioned the autonomous power systems based on wind and solar
energy. Mass production of wind turbines are planned for SA Mashzavod (Ust-
Kamenogorsk), a component of JSC NAK Kazatomprom - it's indicated in the
message.
In the first half took place debut Eurobond placement JSC NAK Kazatomprom
in the amount of $ 500 million for 5 years, coupon rate - 6.25%, which is the
best indicator in the history of the Eurobond issuers in emerging markets.
Funds borrowed from the placement of Eurobonds will be used for future
investment, particularly in the field of conversion and enrichment of uranium.
