Government of Russia and Kazakhstan agree on joint exploration of Imashevsk field

/IRBIS, March 31, 2010/ - Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the
agreement between the governments of Russia and Kazakhstan on joint
geological study and exploration Imashevsk cross-border gas and condensate
field - it's added in the message of "RIA Novosti".
As indicated, according to the decree, the RF Ministry of Natural Resources to
hold negotiations with the Kazakh side and agreeing to sign the agreement on
behalf of the Government of Russia. After the exploration of the deposit and
placement of its stock to the public balance of Russia and Kazakhstan, the sides
will sign an agreement governing the development of the deposit.
Expenditure on exploration will be distributed under the terms 50 to 50 between
Gazprom and JSC National Company "KMG", which are authorized
organizations, and can choose the operator of the project. After receiving the
rights to use, they should jointly develop and approve a program of exploration.
Imashevskoye gas field is located at the junction of Russia's Astrakhan and
Atyrau Regions of Kazakhstan. Its reserves are estimated at 128.7 billion cubic
meters of gas and 20.7 million tons of gas condensate.
In 2005 Russia and Kazakhstan at the level of the two presidents agreed on the
principles section of the deposit and instructed the authorities to resolve the
economic profile issues.
Russia part Imashevsk field is still in the undistributed fund bowels.
In June 2002, Gazprom and JSC National Company Kazmunaigaz created on a
parity basis and registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan joint venture Kazrosgaz
for the purchase and marketing of natural gas, processed gas to the GPP Russia
and other activities.
