/IRBIS, February 10, 2010/ - In 2009 the National Bank came to the examination
of 48 520 suspicious banknotes worth KZT65,087,588, - it's stated in the
published press - release of the National Bank of Kazakhstan on the situation in
the financial market in 2009. Of these 48,214 account for banknotes and coins at
306.
In accordance with the applicable regulations of the National Bank made
examination of 48,520 suspicious money, are recognized:
- counterfeit - 688 banknotes of KZT2,692,170;
- defective (factory marriage) - 53 in the amount of 196,000 m.;
- non-payment - 169 in the amount of 364,300 m.;
- payment and to be exchanged - 47,610 in the amount of KZT61,835,118.
Counterfeit banknotes detected in the number of 590 pieces of KZT2,686,600,
counterfeit coins - 98 pieces of KZT5,570. The total number of detected
counterfeit banknotes in 2009 decreased compared to 2008 was almost 1.7
times.
In addition, since March 2009, according to amending the regulations of the
National Bank, keeps records of fraud identified by second-tier banks and
transferred them to law enforcement. Total for this period second-tier banks
identified 625 bills totaling KZT3.1 million.
Require special attention counterfeit banknotes KZT10,000, in which imitated the
glow in ultraviolet light graphics, security threads and protective fibers, and
the glow color, in most cases close to the color of the glow of genuine banknotes.
Other security features only imitated, so that a careful examination of banknotes
can easily identify fake.
