/IRBIS, February 1, 2010/ - The value of the subsistence minimum in January
2010 amounted to KZT 12,141, indicated in the report issued today the Republic
of Kazakhstan Agency for Statistics.
Living wage in the average per capita, calculated on the basis of minimum
standards of consumption of basic foodstuffs, in January 2010 compared with
December 2009 increased by 1.3%.
In its structure the share of the cost of meat and fish held 20.3%, milk, oil and
fat products, and eggs - 17.1%, fruit and vegetables - 10.1%, cereal products -
9.6%, sugar, tea and spices - 2.9%.

Living wage is necessary minimum monetary income per person, equal in magnitude to
the value of the minimum consumer basket. Minimum consumption basket is a minimum
set of food, goods and services needed for human life in physical and value terms.
It consists of a food basket and a fixed percentage of expenditure on non-food
goods and paid services. Share of the minimum required non- food goods and
services to calculate the subsistence level set at 40 percent of the value of the
minimum consumer basket.
