/IRBIS, December 25, 09/ - Agency of Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Organizations (AFS) in its regulating press-release, dedicated to state of financial market and financial organizations of the republic, have characterized the banking sector of Kazakhstan as at December 1, 2009. As at December 1, 2009, according to AFS, the banking sector of the republic was represented by 37 second level banks. As of 1st of December, 2009 assets denominated in foreign currencies amounted to 48.8 % of total assets (KTZ5,593.7 bn.), loans granted in foreign currency - 58.7 % (KTZ 5,771.2 billion), liabilities denominated in foreign currency - 57.6 % (KTZ 7,018.9 billion), deposits denominated in foreign currency by 50.2 % (KTZ2,966.4 billion). In the structure of the economy, the share of loans by sectors were: construction - 27.5%, trade - 26.6%, non-production sphere - 23.1%, industry - 14.7%, agriculture - 3.9%, transport - 2.9%; individual activities - 0.6%; connection - 0.8%. The share of highly liquid assets to total assets of banks amounted to 20.5%. For violation of banking legislation in October, banks had been rendered on 6 written prescriptions, 4 letters of commitment and 6 concluded a written agreement. As of December 1, 2009 in the process of forced liquidation by a court there are 5 banks (Valyt Transit Bank JSC, Nauryz Bank Kazakhstan JSC, Businessbank JSC, Kazpochtabank JSC, Komirbank JSC). Definition of specialized inter-district economic court of Almaty on November 12, 2009 approved a report on the elimination and liquidation balance sheet of Komirbank OJSC, which came into force on December 1, 2009.
