The main reason was pessimistic forecast of the World Bank relative to the recession. According to it, the recession will be about 2.9 % in 2009 than it was predicted in March about 1.7 %. The shares of General Electric decreased by 4.7 %, Caterpillar - by 3.8 %, Exxon - by 3.2 %, Conoco - by 5.8 %, Apple - by 1.5 %. The stock indices in Europe decreased as well against the background of macroeconomic news and commodity prices decline. The shares of Shell decreased by 4.5 %, BP - by 3.8 %, Royal Dutch Shell - on 4.0 %, Tullow Oil - by 6.2 %, Repsol - by 3.2 %, Total - by 3.3 %, StatoilHydro - by 6.9 %, Renault - by 7.2 %, Royal Bank of Scotland - on 3.3 %, Societe Generale - by 3.7 %, Natixis - by 7.6 %. The fall in commodity prices have negatively affected on the shares of mining companies. The shares of Kazakhmys decreased by 7.9 %, BHP Billiton - by 4.3 %, Antofagasta - on 7.0 %, Rio Tinto - by 3.8 %, Eurasian Natural Resources - by 6.9 %. [2009-06-23]
