KazMunaiGas Exploration Production (Kazakhstan) buys back 38,000 GDRs on LSE on April 30 and May 1, 2009

/KASE, May 4, 09/ - KazMunaiGas Exploration Production (Astana), a company listed on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), issued a statement: Quotation beginning JSC KazMunaiGas Exploration Production ("the Company" or "KMG EP") announces that pursuant to the Share Buy Back Programme commenced on 24 November, 2008., on April 30, 2009 the Company acquired 35,000 global depository receipts ("GDR") on the London Stock Exchange at an average price USD17.6457 a GDR. On May 1, 2009 the Company acquired 3,000 GDRs at an average price USD17.63 a GDR. Since the start of the Share Buy Back Programme, the Company has purchased in aggregate 4,816,697 GDRs and 96,070 common shares.
