BTA Bank (Kazakhstan) sells controlling shareholding to Fund of national wellbeing Samruk-Kazyna

/KASE, February 2, 09/ - BTA Bank (Almaty), securities of which are listed on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), provided KASE with a press release as follows: Quotation beginning Taking into consideration depreciation of economy in the last three months, the Government accepted an offer of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Organizations on redemption of a controlling block of shares in BTA Bank. Shares will redeemed through an additional emission of 29,915,425 common shares at a price KZT8,401 a share. The entire volume of the emission will be redeemed by the Government in the person of Fund of national wellbeing Samruk-Kazyna, as a result the bank will receive KZT251,319,485,425 of additional capital. The Government announces, it will continue in future to render support to BTA Bank, of the fundamental financial institutions of the country. Arman Dunaev, deputy chairman of the management board of Samruk-Kazyna said: "The Government is planning to support BTA Bank in future", which is a fundamental bank in Kazakhstan and is playing an important role in crediting of a non-primary sector. The State will ensure BTA Bank is participating in all state programs". Arman Dunaev, deputy chairman of the management board of Fund of national wellbeing Samruk-Kazyna has been appointed a member of the Board of Directors. Anvar Saydenov former CEO of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has been appointed an Advisor to Chairman of the management board of BTA Bank Roman Solodchenko. In spite of shift of a shareholder, BTA Bank is meeting all its obligations, and crediting population and economy in the normal mode, servicing client accounts, accepts and pays deposits of legal entities and individuals. Shareholders and management of the financial institution intend to retain for BTA Bank a status of a leader of the national banking system and take measures for development in the future. The Bank has sufficient liquidity margin and is remaining a reliable partner for the state, its clients and foreign financial institutions.
