AFS of Kazakhstan characterized the republic's securities market as of January 1, 2009

/IRBIS, January 26, 09/ - Agency of Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Organizations (AFS) in its scheduled press-release dedicated to the condition of the republic's financial market and financial organizations characterized Kazakhstan securities market as of January 1, 2009. Quotation start On the market of corporate securities, the number of joint-stock companies with acting share issues in Kazakhstan was 2,240 enterprises, as of January 1, 2009. Also, the following entities acted at securities market: 104 brokers and dealers, 15 registrars, 11 banks-custodians, 13 pension assets investment management organizations (PAIMO), 66 organizations controlling securities portfolios, and 4 transfer-agents. Over 2008, 511 share issues (including those to which amendments and the changes of government registration certificates were made) were registered. Also, in 2008, 82 independent bonds` issues were registered, with total face value KZT731.2 bn., along with this, 13 bonds programs was registered, with total face value KZT538.0 bn. As of January 1, 2009 the number of current bond programs made 57 issues for the total of KZT1,738.9 bn. The number of paid bonds issues in 2008 made 18 issues at KZT47.3 bn. As of January 1, 2009, there were 347 valid non-government circulating bond issues with total nominal value of KZT2,129.2 bn. For 2008 there are 45 mutual funds were registered, 30 of which are paid. Thus, the number of mutual funds functioning on securities market as of January 1, 2009 was 205 (157 closed funds, 23 open and 25 interval fund). For the reporting period 15 joint stock investment funds were registered, thus there are 54 joint stock investment funds are functioning on the market. As of January 1, 2009, the amount of issues of the corporate securities by the Kazakhstan issuers included in the KASE official list totaled: 249 issues - under category of debt securities, 98 issues - under shares category and 1 issue - under category of Investment funds securities. In December for non-execution of separate norms of the acting legislation of Republic of Kazakhstan on securities market, 1 written direction and 1 written agreement were demanded. Currently, there is a default on bonds of Doszhan Temir Zholy (DTZ) JSC, ROSA JSC, Transstroimost JSC, Almaty distillery plant JSC, REMIX-R JSC, ICКЕ САТ COMPANY JSC, listed on KASE.
