EBRD intends to acquire shares of CAEC

/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Astana, January 16, 09/ - European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to acquire shares of Central
Asian energy corporation (CAEC, "daughter" of Central Asian energy
company), the bank's message says.
According to the message, "the aim of acquisition - is investment projects
financing, focused at growth of energy consumption efficiency and improving
of environment-oriented production standards and resources allocation".
At that the message says that "total cost value of shares will be submitted to
final estimation".
According to EBRD, bank's participation as co-owner may accelerate IPO of
CAEC.
The message doesn't specify the number of CAEC shares for which EBRD
claims.
As informed, the company planed IPO in 2010 probably at Hong-Kong
offering floor.
CAEC JSC - is a large Kazakhstan holding, founded more than 10 years
ago. This structure combines the companies that operate in energy, finance
and chemical fields, mechanical engineering. Its joint assets exceed KZT100
bn. (KZT121.37/USD1); staff comprises more than 15 th. people.
