BTA Bank (Kazakhstan) participates in Issyk hydropower plant-2 funding

/KASE, November 4, 08/ - BTA Bank (Almaty), securities of which are traded ion
Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) official list, provided to KASE the press
release where informs that on November 3, on the territory of Ile-Alatau national
park on Issyk river in Almaty Region, was opened the small Issyk hydropower
plant-2 with the capacity of 5.1MW, constructed by the company EnergoAlem
jointly with BTA Bank.
The project cost makes up USD4.3 m., including the company-constructor own
funds - USD2.2 m. (53%), the loan of BTA - USD2.1 m. (47%).
This project was created within the construction in Almaty Region of small
hydropower plants with the capacity from 2 to 20 MW, in compliance with the
Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan # 161 of February
22, 2005 "On Additional Measures for Hydropower Development in Kazakhstan".
At present, the Almaty energy system has deficiencies and annually imports about
25 % (1,300 m. kilowatt-hours) from the total electricity need.
