Kazakhtelecom informed on the "Carrier Meeting" Telecom Operators International Conference held on October 15-16

/KASE, October 17, 08/ - Kazakhtelecom (Astana), shares of which are traded in Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) official list of the first category, provided to KASE the press release on the following: Quotation start On October 15-16, 2008, in Kapshagai City of Almaty Region was held the 2nd "Carrier Meeting" International Conference with involvement of telecom operators from abroad. During the conference was made the presentation on new Kazakhtelecom opportunities in organizing transit routes with the shortest distance in Central Asia and between Europe and South-East Asia. Was signed the bilateral protocol for construction of the junction of baseline networks of the Chinese operator "China Tietong" and Kazakhtelecom in the area of Dostyk - Alashankou, and bilateral agreement with the company "China Telecom" on creation of the "point of presence" (PoP) of Kazakhtelecom in Hong-Kong. At present the national telecommunications system condition of Kazakhstan influences on the success of economic reforms and the country position on the international market of information and communication services. Therefore, the maximum implementation of the country transit capacity is important. For efficient use of the transit capacity Kazakhtelecom is finishing modernization of existing and construction of new junctions with baseline networks operators of the neighboring countries. In particular, in the site Zharkent - Horgos (Almaty Region) was extended the junction with the Chinese operator "China Telecom". At the same site was organized the junction with other Chinese operator "China Unicom". The junction with Uzbektelecom was also extended on the site Abai - Pakhta (South-Kazakhstan). On the site Uralsk - B. Chernigovka (West Kazakhstan) was organized and launched the junction with Russian operators "Sovintel" and "Synterra". Was extended the junction with Rostelecom on the site Ganyushkino (Atyrau Region). Were signed Memorandums of Understanding for construction of the networks junctions with the company "China Network Communications Group". In addition, was signed the tripartite agreement on joint participation in the project "Transit Asia - Europe" with "China Unicom" and "Golden Telecom". Implementation of the signed within this conference protocol between "China Tietong" and Kazakhtelecom will allow increasing the services range, provided by the national operator to its foreign partners. The second document signed at the conference is the bilateral agreement between "China Telecom" and Kazakhtelecom, which will facilitate further implementation of the project on development of baseline networks for data transmission IP/MPLS. We remind that at the last year "Carrier Meeting" conference foreign operators were familiarized with plans of Kazakhtelecom on internal extension of "points of presence" - data signal centers. During the conference with "China Telecom" was signed Memorandums of Understanding for development of MPLS network of Kazakhtelecom. Today's agreement will secure intentions of parties on this project implementation. The project "Development of baseline networks IP/MPLS" (Internet Protocol/Multi- protocol Label Switching - high speed data transmission), implemented by Kazakhtelecom in this year allowed extending capacity of internal country data transmission channels. The need in such extension is conditioned by the need of consumers in the broadband Internet access at trunk and international traffic exchange, implementation of new services based on the IP protocols (IP/ IPTV), and extension of Next Generation Networks. Further extension of the transit capacity of internal Kazakhtelecom data transmission networks is planned for the next year and will allow the company using geographic location of Kazakhstan to satisfy needs of large baseline channels operators to provide Europe - Asia route communication.
