AFS of Kazakhstan characterized the republic's securities market as of August 1, 2008

/IRBIS, August 21, 08/ - Kazakhstan agency for financial market and financial organizations regulation and supervision (AFS) in its scheduled press-release dedicated to the condition of the republic's financial market and financial organizations gives information about development of Kazakhstan securities market as of August 1, 2008. Beginning of quotation On the market of corporate securities, the number of joint-stock companies with acting share issues in Kazakhstan was 2,215 enterprises, as of July 1, 2008. Also, the following entities acted at securities market: 81 brokers and dealers (without participation of second tier banks), 15 registrars, 11 banks- custodians, 14 pension assets investment management organizations (PAIMO), 66 organizations controlling securities portfolios, and 3 transfer- agents. Over July 2008, there were registered 60 share issues (including those to which amendments and the changes of government registration certificates were made). Also, in July, 2008, 3 bonds' issue was registered, with total face value KZT2.94 bn., 2 issues of bonds in the limits of bond programs for amount of KZT20.0 bn. As of August 1, 2008, there were 317 valid non-government circulating bond issues with total nominal value of KZT1,783.1 bn. The number of mutual funds functioning on securities market as of August 1, 2008 was 189 (148 closed funds, 18 open and 21 interval fund). For the reporting period no joint stock investment fund was registered, thus on the market are also functioning 44 joint stock investment funds. As of August 1, 2008, the amount of issues of the non-government securities by the Kazakhstan issuers included in the KASE's list totaled: 252 issues - under category "A"; and 80 issues - under category "B". In July, 2008 for non-execution of some norms of the acting legislation of RK about securities market, 2 written directions and 1 written liability were addressed to the professional participants of securities market.
