In our opinion, the major factors, which downgrade USD rate in Kazakhstan, were the necessity in mandatory tax payments and inflow of exporters` currency proceeds. It should be noted that actual exchange rate of USD/KZT since the beginning of 2008 decreased by 4.2 %, when KZT/USD appreciating made only 0.10 % in nominal expression. We consider that USD rate may reach KZT119.5 till the end of current week with absence of serious damping position of regulating factor. The dollar was quoted at 119.90/119.93 at the KASE day session at 12:50 p.m.; last deal was concluded at 119.91. The dollar was quoted at 119.90/119.93 on over-the-counter. [2008-08-21]
