Shareholders of Kazakhmys Plc are not against including Kazakhstan government` s representative to the staff of Board of directors

/INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN, Astana, July 25, 2008/ - Shareholders of
Kazakhmys Plc are not against intention of Kazakhstan government to
include its representative to the staff of company's Board of directors.
"Negotiations with shareholders are completed. Theoretically, they are not
against" - Daulet Ergozhin, Vice-minister of Finance informed journalists on
Friday in Astana.
"According to Britain Laws, Board of directors will vote whether to elect new
member from Kazakhstan party" - he stressed, adding that such decision will
be made on next week.
D. Ergozhin informed that there were no applications, received by the
government, on possible deal between Kazakhmys Plc and Metalloinvest.
"Not a single official application, nor written, nor spoken one" - he said.
Financial Times informed that Metalloinvest negotiates on merger
Kazakhmys Plc.
Later, Kazakhmys informed that conducts "very preliminary negotiations" on
possible deal with third party.
As company's message said, these negotiations "can or can not lead to the
fact that Kazakhmys will be made offer on merger".
Besides, company notes that there is still no any certainty on terms of deal,
its structure as far as there is no any agreement between parties.
"Any deal will have to receive approve of shareholders" - is said in message.
Kazakhmys is the major copper producer in Kazakhstan; in 2005 it offered
shares on exchange in London on behalf of holding Kazakhmys Plc,
registered in Great Britain, in which oil, gold-mining and energy subdivisions,
MKM plant in Germany are also entered.
Corporation Kazakhmys specializes on refined copper, copper materials,
other non-ferrous and precious metals and coal production; there are four
production associations enter in it: Zhezkazgansvetmet, Balhashsvetmet,
Vostoksvetmet, Karagandasvetmet.
