On July 1, joint-stock company Kazpost started mass issue of the VISA
international payment system cards. Under the first issue will be issued 20
thousand cards, including at the expense of migration into the VISA system of
its own card KazCard. The national post operation was admitted to the system
Visa International as the associated member on December 20, 2007.
Today financial services of Kazpost are used by more than one million
Kazakhstan citizens. Through the network of Kazpost divisions, salaries are
received by more than three hundred thousand people; about eight hundred
thousand citizens of the country receive pensions and various types of social
allowances.
According to the opinion of Deputy Chairman of Kazpost Board Erserik
Siyrbaev, the Kazakhstan market of payment cards is insufficient, almost half
of the country population still do not have an opportunity to use modern
up-to-date financial technologies due to the absence of the second-tier banks
affiliates in small towns and countryside. Appearance on the market of the new
participant's payment cards will allow solution of not only these problems, but
will allow VISA card holders of other banks using their cards outside large
cities.
The international certification of the acquiring network is being completed,
which consists of 62 cash dispensers and 1526 post-terminal divisions of
Kazpost across the country.
During 2008, Kazpost is planning to issue 100 000 cards KazCard Visa.
Technical support will be provided by the certified VISA international payment
system Kazkommertsbank pressing center.
