Kazakhtelecom JSC takes part in the international conference Internet-Alternative
2008".
On June 24, 2008 the first international conference on development of the
internet in CIS countries were held in Almaty. Being a telecommunications leader,
Kazakhtelecom JSC provided plans on development of Kazakhstan Internet
segment.
The majority of Kazakhstan Internet users use Russian and foreign resources,
which creates outflow of users from KazNet, which is due factors of Kazakhstan
Internet development. To stimulate KazNet development Kazakhtelecom JSC
being a leader in telecommunications actively works to create attractive
conditions for development of Kazakhstan Internet platforms.
Comparison of Russian Internet services market with that of Kazakhstan
discloses a significant difference - a developed local content, which is not
paid for by Russian operators and therefore there are no such expenses in
costs of Russian services. Kazakhtelecom JSC plans to develop KazNet content
and to create attractive conditions for development of domestic resources.
Currently many sites of the national two letter domain (ccTLDs) .kz "are hosted"
out of bounds of Kazakhstan Internet segment. This entails big expenses when
organizing access to the Internet in Kazakhstan. KazNet development problems
are caused by absence of competitive Kazakhstan hosting companies on the
world market of web-hosting, undeveloped system of electronic Internet
payments, and absence of popular thematic and social portals in the Kazakhstan
segment.
Kazakhtelecom JSC recently has made big steps to make KazNet attractive.
Beginning March 1, 2008 Megaline subscribers were provided with unlimited
access to KazNet with parallel speeding up of access to it up to 256 Kbyteps.
And beginning June 1, 2008 Kazakhtelecom JSC speeded up access to inner
resources of the company (IP-addresses, registered in Kazakhtelecom JSC in
RIPE) for Megaline Start, Megaline Hit, Megaline Light, Megaline Box subscribers
on inbound and outbound channel to 512 Kbyteps and for Megaline Turbo
subscribers to 1 Mbyteps. At that all Megaline subscribers are charged at null
rate for inbound and outbound traffic.
Currently KazNet provides Internet resources, which provide different content.
With Kazakhtelecom technically helped launch www.yvision.kz, www.filebar.kz,
and organize Megaline Challenge tournaments. Number of on-line participants
from Kazakhtelecom JSC this year made about 1,000 players (in 2007 - 600).
Megaline tariff does not account for traffic when using these resources. In
future Kazakhtelecom JSC will develop free informational, entertaining, postal,
file exchange and other services. Kazakhtelecom JSC plans to implement a
unified payment system its clients at www.telecom.kz
