National Bank of Kazakhstan describes credit market of the republic in April 2008

/IRBIS, June 10, 08/ - The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan in
its press release on the state of the financial market of republic cited
information on the condition of the credit market of in April 2008.
Quotation start
The total volume of the primary debt on banks' credits to economy for
April 2008 has increased by 0.04%, compared to March 2008, (compared to
December 2007 - by 0.01%) and totaled KZT7259 bn.
Credits in the national currency decreased by 0.1% during the month and
totaled KZT4165.7 bn., credits in foreign currency increased by 0.2%, having
totaled KZT3093.3 bn. As a result, the unit weight of tenge credits compared
to March 2008 did not change and made 57.4%.
Long-term credits decreased by 0.4%, having totaled KZT5837.9 bn., and
short-term credits increased by 1.8%, having totaled KZT1412.2 bn.
As a result, the unit weight of long-term credits decreased compared to
March 2008 from 80.8% to 80.4%.
Credits for legal entities in April increased by 0.4% and totaled KZT4745.4
bn., and credits for individuals decreased by 0.6%, having totaled KZT2513.6
bn. As a result, the unit weight of credits for physical entities for the month
decreased from 34.9% to 34.6%.
Credits of banks for subjects of small business for April compared to March
increased by 0.8% (in comparison with December 2007 decreased by 0.4%)
making KZT1500.1 bn.
In the branch breakdown most actively are being credited such branches of
economy as trade (21.8%), construction (17.8%), industry (9.6%) and
agriculture (3.3%).
In April 2008 the weighted average interest rate on credits in the national
currency for individuals increased from 18.1% to 19.5% and on credits to
legal entities decreased from 15.9% to 15.9%.
