National bank of Kazakhstan describes deposit April 2008 market

/IRBIS, June 10, 08/ - The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan in
its regulative press-release on the state of financial market of the republic
cited information on the condition of the deposit market of Kazakhstan in
April 2008.

The total volume of deposits of residents in the banking system for April
2008 increased by 0.4% compared to March 2008 (compared to December
2007, growth by 6.3%) to KZT4133.5 bn. The deposits of legal entities grew
by 0.2% to KZT2643.2 bn., deposits of physical entities - by 0.7% to
KZT1490.2 bn.
In April 2008 deposits in the national currency decreased by 0.9% to
KZT2675 bn., deposits in the foreign currency grew by 2.7% to KZT1458.4
bn. As a result, the unit weight of deposits in tenge decreased from 65.5% to
64.7%.
Public deposits (with account of non-residents) in banks during the month
increased by 0.9% (in comparison with December 2007 - by 4.5%) to
KZT1513 bn. In April 2008, in the structure of public deposits tenge deposits
increased by 1.9% to KZT956.3 bn. and deposits in the foreign currency
decreased - by 0.9% to KZT556.6 bn. As a result, the unit weight of tenge
deposits increased from 62.6% to 63.2%.
In April 2008, the weighted average interest rate on tenge time deposits of
non-bank legal entities form 5.9% (in March 2008 - 6.7%), and on deposits
of individuals -11.3% (11.4%).
