/IRBIS, Vitaliy Tomskiy, March 3, 08/ - For the first 2 months of year 2008,
the volume of foreign exchange transactions concluded on the Kazakhstan
stock exchange (KASE) reached the equivalent of $10,277.5 m. and has
decreased relatively to corresponding period of last year by $925.3 m. or by
8.3% in dollar equivalent. In tenge equivalent the turnover made has
decreased by 30.2%.
Following is the table with the volumes of foreign exchange transactions on
KASE in year 2008 grouped by months and types of currencies and
comparable to the data of 2007.

over all deals of the main (morning) session of KASE for the period from
January 1, 08 till February 29, 08, according to IRBIS estimation equaled to
KZT120.35 per dollar, over all stock exchange's deals - KZT120.36 per
dollar.
Speed of tenge devaluation to dollar by stock exchange rate is estimated at
2.72% APR as of February 29, 2008. For the first two months level of tenge
devaluation to dollar in nominal expression made 0.46%.
In 2007 tenge strengthened to dollar by 5.28% in nominal terms.
