Bank TuranAlem JSC (Kazakhstan) informed of borrowing syndicated loan by TuranAlem Finance B.V. (the Netherlands) in Japanese yen for a total of $500 m

/KASE, April 25, 07/ - Bank TuranAlem JSC (Almaty), ING Bank N.V.,
Standard Chartered Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe
Limited have spread today the press release to the following effect:

ING Bank N.V. ("ING"), Standard Chartered Bank ("SCB") and Sumitomo
Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited ("SMBCE") are happy to inform
you that the deal on borrowing the syndicated loan in Japanese yen for a total
of $500,000,000 has been closed successfully, and the agreement for that
deal was signed on April 20 2007. In compliance with the agreement,
TuranAlem Finance B.V. (Holland) acts as the loaner, Bank TuranAlem JSC
- as guarantor.
ING Bank N.V. ("ING"), Standard Chartered Bank ("SCB") and Sumitomo
Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited ("SMBCE") were the leading
authorized organizers. During syndication ABN Amro Bank N.V. and First
Сommercial Bank received the status of Authorized organizers.
This loan appeared the first syndicated borrowing of Bank TuranAlem JSC,
made in Japanese yens. Asian investors provided the significant part of
funds, borrowed via syndicated loan, which is one more sign of recognition of
Bank TuranAlem JSC by both existing and new creditors of the world banking
community. Borrowing of syndicated loan will make for further development
of relations of Bank TuranAlem JSC with banks of Asian region.
The syndicated loan has been borrowed under following conditions:
Loaner: TuranAlem Finance B.V.
Guarantor: Bank TuranAlem JSC ("BTA")
Borrowed amount: The amount in Japanese yens, equivalent of
$500,000,000
Loan term: 36 months starting from the moment
of signing the Credit agreement
Objective: General corporate purposes, including trade
financing
Repayment of the
main amount of the debt: Lump sum
Margin: 0.55% APR
Chairman of the Board of Bank TuranAlem JSC Roman Solodchenk,
commenting on this deal, noted: "In conditions of serious competition in the
financial market of Kazakhstan in 2006 Bank TuranAlem managed to keep
the leading positions and high growth rates. For this year the bank has
become more successful and stable financial institution. We have made the
decisive step forward formation of the bank as the biggest financial institution
of CIS. BTA maintained three yielding eurobonds in English pounds, euro and
Japanese yen, making precedents for banking systems of Kazakhstan and
CIS. Following further diversification line the investment base, we
successfully finished borrowing syndicated loan in Japanese yens. Borrowing
demonstrated concerns of Asian investors in Kazakhstan market, in view of
which we plan to build up the bank's reputation in that region."
Bank TuranAlem, founded in 1925, is one of the biggest private banks of
Kazakhstan. BTA maintains attending to corporate clients and physical
entities, and also renders some other financial services. Headquarter of the
bank is located in Almaty. BTA'a assets made about $17 bn., the equity
capital exceeds $2.2 bn.
BTA possesses following international ratings: Standard & Poor's - BB,
Moody's - Ba1, Fitch - BB+. In December 2006 Standard & Poor's and Fitch
raised prediction for BTA from "stable" to "positive".
In July 2006 BTA received the awards by the Euromoney magazine under
title "The best loaner - financial institutions' group - European developing
market 2006". BTA was recognized the best bank in 2005 under following
titles, proposed by the Euromoney: "The best bank in CIS" and "The best
bank in Central Asia". BTA became "the best bank in 2005 in Kazakhstan"
according to The Banker.
BTA successfully cooperates with 650 foreign banks all over the world,
including CIS and Baltic states. Over 50% of international banks has the fixed
limits for BTA to cooperate in the field of trade financing in the amount of
more than $2 bn. with term for three years. As of December 31 2006 BTA
possesses 10 representative offices outside Kazakhstan.
TuranAlem Finance B.V. (the Loaner) is a 100% daughter enterprise of BTA.
TuranAlem Finance B.V., founded in 2001, is the instrument for borrowing
funds by BTA. Within senior unsecured liabilities the ratings such as Baa1 by
Moody's (prediction: Stable), BB by Standard & Poor's (prediction: Stable)
and ВВ+ by Fitch (prediction: Stable) were assigned to TuranAlem Finance
B.V..
