Kazakhmys studies the ability of new deals of fusions and takeovers

/INTERFAX, London, March 15, 07/ - Kazakhmys Plc studies the ability of conduction of deals of fusions and takeovers within the frames of strategy, directed on diversification of its business. General director of the company Oleg Novachuk during the telephone conference on Thursday had announced, that the company "is interested in ability of conduction of good, serious deal", because the high prices for copper had let Kazakhmys to finish the last year with record high financial indicators. The largest world mining companies, such as BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto, direct the additional money flows on dividends' payment. Kazakhmys is planning to "invest money more effectively", O.Novachuk informed. Company had conducted the listing on London stock exchange more than year ago, at that it still did not make any big deal of fusion or takeover. By the words of O.Novachuk, the company is interested in the deal, which will lead to increase of exchange's price of shares, "so we are trying to choose and realize one good deal, than to study several doubtful". The head of the company had also added that Kazakhmys mainly will look at territory of Kazakhstan, though the purchasing in neighboring countries is not excluded. The prices of future deals, by the words of O.Novachuk, would depend on quality of assets. "If the interesting for us assets will cost, for example, $10 bn., and it will be really interesting for us, I think that we'll buy it", - he told. As it was informed, last week the company had announced, that it had deal on purchasing of Dostan-Temir LLP, which owns the rights on exploitation of oil and gas fields on the west of republic, from the private company Total Commerce Solutions Ltd. Kazakhmys - is the largest in Kazakhstan producer of copper, in year 2005 it had offered its shares on the exchange in London from the name of registered in Great Britain company Kazakhmys.
