Moody's assigns Baa1 rating to Bank Turanalem's senior notes

/REUTERS, January 12, 07 / - Moody's Investors Service has assigned a Baa1 long-term foreign currency rating to the senior unsecured notes expected to be issued under the US$3 billion GMTN Programme of TuranAlem Finance B.V. (rated Baa1 for senior and Baa2 for subordinated debt issues). The issue will be unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed by Kazakhstan's Bank TuranAlem (BTA). The notes will be issued under 144A rule and denominated in US dollars, while the amount, tenor and the price of the notes will be determined by market conditions. The outlook for the rating is stable. Please refer to Moody's press release dated 12 December 2005 regarding the rating for the GMTN programme. Headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Bank TuranAlem reported under IFRS unaudited total consolidated assets of KZT1,197,545 million (US$10,090 million) and total shareholders' equity of KZT118,119 million (US$995 million) as at 30 June 2006. As at 1 June 2006, TuranAlem was the second-largest bank by assets and the largest in terms of equity in Kazakhstan.
